Does Your Agent Have a Positive Attitude?
By Ryan Ward | November 20, 2007
We are all familiar now with the news reports, housing starts, real estate stocks, closed sales and prices dropping over the last 6 - 9 months. So does your agent think think can actually sell your home or is it just simply listed for sale? There is a difference and homes are still selling so if your home is listed for sale and has been for some time then maybe it’s time for a change. What is your agent doing to market your home? How is your price?
Many agents are being pressed to place downward pressure at listing presentations to get sellers to list their home for less money than at the same time last year. Did you know that Atlanta homes on average are selling for 3% more than they did last year and that home sales are down some 40%? It’s hard to make clear sense out of those numbers as they don’t generally go hand in hand. New numbers for October will be out in the next couple of days and the report should give us a much better indication about where the market is headed in general. In the meantime, you may ask yourself if you and your agent feel positive about the market because I can give you 3,718 reasons you should have a positive attitude. those reasons are the number of homeowners who sold their homes last month. So don’t settle for listing your home for sale.
Your attitude and the attitude of your agent should be positive and if it’s not, maybe you should consider finding an agent who believes that they have what it takes to sell your home, not just list it for sale. We believe that a strong partnership based on sound marketing principles and positioning of your home will get your home sold in any market. Maybe it’s time for you to adjust the attitude of your agent.

Ryan - You are correct…attitude is everything in our business. When the Real Estate market is weaker, as it is right now in most parts of the country, you need someone who can remain upbeat and still actually WORK! There are lots of agents that let the negativity surrounding them get the best of them. They get dragged down by it and fall into a rut. This is the time when an agent needs to put in extra hours and really think outside the box.

Bill,
When I was in my office today, I heard more agents talking about it. Is it a little tougher to sell? Maybe so, but, houses are still selling - lots of them. So, I think that you only hurt yourself as an agent when you let negative vibes start controlling your attitude.
