Encore Park Progress Update - Alpharetta Get Ready!
By Ryan Ward | March 27, 2008
Encore Park is just as few months away from the big opening in May so I went by to take a look at the progress. I took with me my tripod and camera and brought it home to upload into a new panorama program and virtual tour plugin to bring it to you. Back in December, I took these photos and they have definitely made some excellent progress since that cold, overcast day. You can see that much of the landscaping is in and the fences are going up and the cover over the seated area is just about ready to go on. If you’ve ever seen a large project come to fruition, it can be interesting to see everything ramp up as the deadline nears and what looks like an impossibility one day seems to all of a sudden be almost complete. From the look of Encore Park right now, it looks like this might be one of those projects. I drove out to Prospect Park, but, other than the private helicopter landing, there wasn’t quite as much to bring to you so I’ll get back out there in a few months when there is more than red clay to photograph.
If your interested, you can find the summer concert lineup here and I have to say, they have a beautiful website. The only thing I found odd was their description of the ‘two story bathrooms’ as one of the venue highlights. I’m not sure I can really grasp a good picture of what they are going for with that description.
The inaugural concert by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is May 10th and the Eagles will follow them on May 14th for the first of their 4 concerts that week! I really can’t say enough about what this facility brings to Alpharetta in terms of value and I’m not real sure it is quantifiable yet. Suffice it to say that Alpharetta is now the outdoor homebase for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the events will certainly bring attention to Alpharetta. That says alot by itself.

I think Alpharetta is ready for the attention and press that Encore Park will bring. It’s funny really, I don’t really think of Alpharetta as a place that people might know of outside of Metro Atlanta and time and again I am surprised. It’s usually someone who thinks that living in Alpharetta means you are ‘rich’, whatever that means exactly. But, I really do think that Alpharetta is the only area outside the city limits of Atlanta that has the depth of restaurants, shopping and employment that could support a venue such as Encore Park. Combine that with the demographics of the residents in North Fulton which should help keep the seats full and I think I would go as far as to say that this venue will look good on the entire Metro Atlanta area and we will certainly have a good number of fairly high profile concerts to get a little attention.
If you plan on getting out to Encore Park with your family or to see a concert, you might run into me. I plan on frequenting the park when possible with my daughter and enjoying a concert or two over the summer.
