Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World - They Won’t Do This!

By Ryan Ward | March 6, 2008

In the ongoing series for the greatest real estate agent in the world contest, I thought I would not need to break out this video, but, really - I think it’s time. I put this video together prior to the contest to illustrate the bad and the ugly of what some sellers are dealing with and what the greatest real estate agent would never do. Have a look at this video and let me know what you think.

My first thought was “Wow – are these for real?” and my second though was “Are these recent?” It seems to me that with today’s digital cameras, these photos simply should not exist. Many look as though they were taken by disposable cameras. But then you can’t blame the camera for an agent not wanting to take two seconds to take an empty bottle out of a sink. Jaw-dropping (and not in a good way).

After thinking about this more, I’d be interested in a video (with audio) of actual client-agent interactions from some of these agents. I am picturing gum-smacking and a child waiting in the background.

I don’t really know what more to say about them. I think they speak for themselves. It took me about 15 minutes to find them and if you ever want to find some yourself, start with the expired listings. :)

I think that’s were I found most of these.

But seriously, let’s say you go out to the house and it isn’t a great house and it’s small. O.K., I’ve been there and you may only have 4 good shots after taking 40-50. I’m not going to load the bad ones, I’m going to load the 4 or 5 good ones I got and try again on the next clear day to get some additional ones.

I’ve seen these pictures before, but it’s still funny (or sad) seeing it again.

Unfortunately, the barrier for entry into this industry is way too low…….one of the positive outcomes of the market downturn is the weeding out of many of the low quality realtors.

    Mark,

I couldn’t agree more and the weeding out is currently happening here as well. For those of us with solid lead generating and business models, we should see more business because of it.

These are funny…..realtors know its for real, but the general public may think its a prank. I’ve been there!

I loved the “no homes were sold during the marking of this presentation”

I am hoping the slower market lowers the number of agents and the industry gets more professional about representing their clients.

It should - I think we have alleady lost quite a few here and that is likely to continue. That should help improve service to consumers and put more money in the pockets of those who make it through the worst part of the downside of the market.

The captions kinda reminded me of those carfax commercials. Those were horrible shots and should not have been used. What are people thinking when they use shots like that? They just want to get things done, but don’t because they did it the American way.

Blimey, I can’t believe people would use those kind of shots. I think your video would make a good masterclass on what not to use in your property listing!

I had a gig as a real estate photographer once. Here is a common scenario:

Hello, it’s me the photographer. We had an appointment and I’m on time to help you make your home look fabulous so you can sell it.

Why are your children’s toys scattered throughout the house?

How did your laundry basket morph into your hallway floor?

Is that last nights dinner on the coffee table?

    Unbelievable.
