Let Your Voice Be Heard and Your Questions Answered

By Ryan Ward | April 2, 2008

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to help make this blog a better sounding board for you, the consumer and other real estate professionals to interact. In the ‘Web 2.0′ way. I suppose. Although, the concept is nothing new, the idea is to make it easier and more comfortable for people to ask questions, get answers and communicate. Inherently, the blog format makes this easier to accomplish than a website because anyone can submit a comment if they see a particular topic of interest and interact on that level.

However, comments alone do not allow people to ask what they want, when they want; only to answer what I have already posted. So to address this problem, we’ve added an “ask a question” page to the blog. In someways it is similar to what you might see on Trulia except with more control for you. You will have the opportunity to ask for specific information to be posted, ask questions - general or specific as well as to read what others have asked as well. Basically it will give you the ability to get information that is important to you.

I’m not sure if this will be an effective tool for me to generate new business, but, that is sort of a secondary benefit that comes along with providing more options, resources, answers and service to you. Enjoy.

Ryan, I love the idea of being able to ask a questions in a specific area of the site that is designed for just that purpose. i have also seen many sites that will show whether the author is “on line” and let you chat directly with them. I love the concept behind that as well. Love the new blog theme btw. I am in the process of setting up one of the “Revolution Themes” by Brian Gardner as a website built around the blogging platform. I may use this idea on it…

I almost used the ‘author is online’ one, but, thought that it had some drawbacks. For example, if a user looks and sees that you are not online, which will be most of the time (at least for me) then they may leave. I guess I was trying to eliminate the negative while still offering the same concept. Plus it will leave all the questions and answers up so people can look back through…Thanks for the compliment about the theme. Revolution has many very nice ones.

I like the “ask a question” over the “online widget”. I think if you are offline people might leave. Plus I could see myself wasting bunch of time going back and forth with people that are just bored and wanting to waste time online

    Ki,

I couldn’t agree more - that’s one of the main reasons I went this route instead…
