Looking For Homes With Land in Atlanta? Look to Milton
By Ryan Ward | February 1, 2008
As Atlanta grows outward, land becomes more and more valuable and harder to find - especially on the North side of the city. With one exception - The City of Milton. In fact, in Milton, it’s hard to find a lot smaller than an acre. A quick check in the MLS shows that more than half of the homes are on lots of more than one acre, but, it’s more than just large lots that you get in Milton.
As you leave Alpharetta and drive north on let’s say, Hopewell Road, something special happens. Almost instantly you feel like you have been transported to a place far far away from Atlanta. The traffic dissipates, the roads wind past horse farms, and the fast pace of city life seems a million miles away, but it’s only about 25. Swing out north and west past the country clubs on Birmingham Highway and it won’t take long to realize the immense treasures in land that can be found. Simply entering into Milton you know that you have reached a special place and the value is still amazing.
Here’s an example of a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath home that sold this past November. This home sits on about 3.5 acres with a riding arena and a 5 stall barn. It sold for $735,000:

Where else can you combine a home like this with excellent schools, nearby employment, great dining and shopping only minutes away and feel like you get to go home to an absolute retreat every day and at prices that are still attainable for a large number of homebuyers? You can’t. I suppose you could head a little farther west to Cherokee County or keep heading north into Forsyth, but, that just makes my point. You cannot find more home and land for your money with the amenities today’s buyers desire than what is available in Milton.
You can use our website to search Milton homes for saleand if you can’t find just what your looking for, I may know of a special something available with over 5 acres on a lot that truly is a great escape close to home.

Milton looks like a great place to live. There is a lot to be said about being a little on the outskirts of a major city. In Tucson Arizona all the outlying areas have been growing further and futher out same with Phoenix.
